Practical, affordable and easily made with components from a local hardware store – this is the ethos of Squeezebox.
The driving force behind its design was a desire to produce something useful that Colin could make himself for his own apartment. With storage presenting a great challenge in small spaces, incorporating storage into a multipurpose stool cum coffee table, became the aim. The height of Squeezebox is entirely customisable, owing to its integrated hinge system, and easily altered by adjusting the number and size of items stored within it. These might be books, records, a collection of magazines, or even blankets or linen.
The dimensions of the external panels might also be altered by the maker to either adapt to the dimensions of what they wish to store or, better still, to make use of excess or scrap timber that might otherwise end up in landfill.
