A collaboration with fashion label LOWF to create Shift+Space a relocatable, modular retail system that explores the architectural potential of raw, utilitarian materials. Conceived as a moveable framework rather than a fixed fit-out, the project proposes a new model for adaptive retail architecture . One that is as tactile and robust as it is refined. A modular system for adaptive retail Engineered for assembly, disassembly and reuse, the Shift+Space system can be configured to suit a variety of spatial conditions from narrow laneway stores to larger gallery-like interiors. Each component is designed for longevity and flexibility, enabling it to be reimagined and reassembled across multiple iterations with minimal waste. 

The approach subverts the conventional hierarchy of materials by bringing construction elements typically hidden from view into the open. Galvanised steel stud frames – precise, rhythmic and unapologetically industrial form the project’s structural backbone. Salvaged Oregon timber, sourced locally, introduces warmth and craftsmanship through its imperfections, wear and grain. Dense industrial-grade wool felt lends tactility and acoustic softness, transforming a material of utility into one of sensory depth. Tactility, robustness and restraint The palette is raw yet deliberate. 

A system that feels architectural in its precision but human in its materiality. Exposing materials that are usually hidden, revealing their texture, their imperfections, and their potential to define space. The intention was to fabricate something that can evolve and be re-used a framework for continual transformation.
