Suspended Ground explores lightweight forms of inhabitation emerging within fragile coastal landscapes. Drawing from Pittwater’s offshore communities and marine infrastructure, the work exists somewhere between landing platform, shelter and environmental instrument. Suspended in tension above the ground plane, the structure uses marine-grade aluminium, translucent polycarbonate and stainless steel cables to create a hovering threshold between land and water. The project investigates reversibility, material reduction and temporary occupation as increasingly relevant environmental responses to unstable coastal conditions.
